Carmen Corbrasson Community Centre, formally known as The Cawthra Community Centre, is getting bigger with a new redesign. The construction will begin 2022 or early 2023. The facility was renamed in 2012, in honour of former Mississauga Ward 1 Councillor, Carmen Corbasson. The project is an expansion and fitness facility modernization from 2012. Now it is being reinvented for future generations to come. Community Centre's are an important part of the services offered to the local residents. The project is funded by taxes and incorporated in the Mississauga budget. In accordance with the City of Mississauga’s Strategic Plan, this renovation will add more amenities to the existing facilities, such as big lap pool, therapy pool, meeting room, exercise room and more. As of June 23, 2021 The city opens up its plan to the public so that everyone can be part of these new changes, recommendation and concerns.
I have a great hope for this building, not only for the use of the facilities but for setting a high standard of how we can create energy efficiency and zero emissions goals. Incorporating solar power buildings are an investment for our future generations. So, Please go to City of Mississauga home page and input your ideas to improve our community centre. Mississauga needs an Olympic size pool for training and swim meets. Unfortunately, the University of Toronto Mississauga pool was not built as an Olympic size pool. An Olympic size pool would bring tourists to Mississauga during swim meets.
